Architectural rendering of the museum space on the ground floor of the CMC building

Fans of Sounds & Echoes: A Musical Portrait of Buffalo, NY may remember one of the stories we produced about the Colored Musicians Club.   We interviewed staff, patrons and performers from CMC about what this historic space means to them.  You can hear that story here.   CMC  received its Act of Incorporation in 1935; designation as an historical landmark in 1979; and designation as an historical preservation site in 1999.  And as of September 22 the jazz venue opened the the Colored Musicians Club Museum on the ground floor of it’s historic building in downtown Buffalo.

CMC announced the opening of the museum along with the museum’s goal of creating a multimedia archive where the current collection will be available to scholars, researchers and the general public.    The museum is currently looking for photos, audio, musical instruments and other artifacts to add to their current collection.  If you would like to contribute to the museum you can learn how to so here.
